Supporting First-Generation Students at William & Mary
Your support as faculty and staff plays a crucial role in the success of our first-generation students. Many first-gen students may not be aware of the resources, opportunities, and programs available to them, making your guidance invaluable in helping them navigate their William & Mary experience.
Become a Mentor
If you are interested in serving as a mentor, please contact Joselia Souza. Mentors typically serve from National First-Generation College Celebration Week in November (midway through the students' first year) through the spring of their sophomore year. As a mentor, you will receive an orientation and resource guide and are expected to meet with your mentee at least once a quarter.
Join the AAA Honors Society
Are you a first-generation college graduate? Join the AAA Honors Society! Your name will be featured in our directory as a friendly face for first-generation William & Mary students to reach out to. This will help increase campus pride around the first-gen identity and create additional mentorship opportunities.
Request First-Gen Materials
