AAA Honors Society

About Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha)

Founded on March 24, 2018, at Moravian College (now Moravian University) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Alpha Alpha Alpha, or Tri-Alpha, is an honors society dedicated to recognizing the academic achievements of first-generation college students. Since its inception, Tri-Alpha has expanded to campuses nationwide, supporting the academic and professional growth of first-generation students, faculty, and staff.

Eligibility Criteria for Students
  • Completion of at least 30 credit hours towards a degree.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Neither parent nor legal guardian has completed a bachelor’s degree.
Eligibility Criteria for Graduate Students
  • Completion of at least 9 or more graduate credits.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 in the graduate program.
Eligibility Criteria for Faculty and Staff
  • Must have been first-generation students when they completed their bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be willing to serve as mentors for first-generation students.
Eligibility Criteria for Alumni and Honorary Inductees
  • Must have been first-generation students when they completed their bachelor’s degree.
  • Must remain connected to the institution (e.g., board member, alumni association, volunteer, donor).
  • Must be willing to mentor first-generation students.
  • Honorary members need not have been first-generation college students but must be advocates or supporters of first-gen students.
