About the Performers
The Cary Street Ramblers formed in 2009 out of Tripp and Jenny Johnson's weekly jam at the Cary Street Café in Richmond, Virginia. Now the longest-running old-time jam session in Eastern Virginia, the band blends fiddle-driven dance tunes and traditional songs brought to this country by early Scottish and Irish settlers with banjo rhythms brought by African slaves. Band members include Michael Ford on fiddle; Jeff Brown playing banjo; Tripp Johnson on mandolin; Jenny Johnson playing guitar and banjo; and Skip Andrews on bass. The band regularly performs at old-time fiddlers conventions, music festivals, and square dances.
