Professional Development Awards
Current undergraduate students can apply for a Professional Development Award from the Global Research Institute if they are either 1) presenting their research at a conference; or 2) traveling for a meeting related to their research. Students may apply for up to $500 of funding to support their travel in support of their research project. Students who are traveling in support of research affiliated with GRI (working with a GRI lab, as part of a GRI student innovation grant team, as a Summer Fellow, or as a Global Scholar) will be given preference. However, any undergraduate W&M student conducting research on a topic of global importance may apply.
If you are presenting at a conference, you will need to upload:
- Conference abstract
- Proof of acceptance to the conference (this may be an email from the organizers, or a screenshot of the conference program)
If you are traveling for a meeting, you will need to upload:
- One-page justification of the travel. How is this travel related to your research project? Why is this meeting necessary? What are the goals of the meeting? What will be the next steps following your meeting?
