Sexual Misconduct Prevention Steering Committee
The Fraternity/Sorority Life Sexual Misconduct and Prevention Steering Committee strives to implement the recommendations put forth by the Fraternity/Sorority Life Task Force in April 2016. Among the 16 recommendations were suggestions to create an Educational Liaison position for Fraternity/Sorority Life chapters, partner with the Sexual Violence Prevention Specialist at William & Mary, and form the Steering Committee to consistently evaluate, improve, and build a safer community.
The Steering Committee, established in fall 2016, is comprised of students and administrators from across the university community with experience and interest in the overlap between issues of sexual misconduct and the Fraternity/Sorority community. Through collaboration with departments including the Office of Health Promotion and Student Leadership Development, the Steering Committee’s primary tasks are to identify relevant concerns on campus, design and implement initiatives, and engage community members in important conversations.
