Research

William & Mary has a vibrant linguistics research program where students and faculty collaborate on projects across many different domains. Jack Martin works with several tribes in the South, and regularly involves students in his research projects. Anya Hogoboom, Leslie Cochrane, Kaitlyn Harrigan, Iyabo Osiapem, and Rachel Varra all actively work with students in their areas of expertise (check out their webpages for more information). The Linguistics Program also houses the journal Language & Communication, edited by Talbot J. Taylor. Check out our Linguistics Instagram (wm_linguistics) and our Discourse Analysis Instagram (discourse_analysis_wm) run by the DA@W&M research group.

The Linguistics Program holds weekly Linguistics Research meetings: Friday from 12-1:50pm in Tucker Hall, Room 111. Subscribe to the mailing list for Linguistics Research at lists.wm.edu, lists or for general information about the Linguistics Program at lists.wm.edu.

External resources that may be of help include The Linguist List and the Linguistics Society of America websites. Need a phonetic font? SIL International has several Unicode IPA fonts, including DoulosSIL.
