Undergraduate Research
Sometimes new insights and ideas spring into being like Athena from the head of Zeus. More often, new knowledge is the result of careful research and analysis that build on what we already know. As an undergraduate, you'll have opportunities to try your hand at this kind of hands-on, scholarly, and creative activity.
Faculty often include undergraduates in their academic projects. You can work side by side with professors on their research. Some students co-author papers with their professors or present their research at national and international conferences. Details of individual professors' research labs and topics are found on departmental websites.
You could also conduct independent research under the mentorship of a faculty member. To do this, talk to a professor about your project ideas. Your project could be a one-semester Independent Study or a year-long Honors project. Check out the various resources to support your research endeavors.
