Application Checklist
How We Read Applications
Each and every application is read at least twice, in its entirety. During each read, all components of the application (transcript, extracurricular activities, recommendations, essay(s) and any optional materials submitted) will be reviewed and assessed for their overall strength relative to the overall application pool.
Each read is also done contextually, considering a student’s background, their high school environment and extenuating circumstances to assess your accomplishments with as much information as possible.

Application Checklist
To apply to W&M, you must submit the following:
When completing the Common App, we strongly encourage you to submit up to three of the “optional essays.” Whether you apply to W&M or other great colleges and universities, these writing components of the application provide admission committees with a better opportunity to get to know you. There will be a $75 non-refundable application fee payment. You can also submit a fee waiver request.
Dates & Deadlines
If you are applying to William & Mary, we ask that you submit your Common App by either Nov. 1 (Early Decision I) or Jan. 5 (Early Decision II and Regular Decision). The application is due by 11:59 p.m. in your time zone on the day of the deadline. Supplemental materials including transcripts, test scores and recommendations may still be submitted after the deadline.
After You Apply
Upon receipt of an application, first-year applicants will receive an email from us providing them with credentials to access our Application Status Portal.
