Fee Waiver
Common App Fee Waivers
The Common App fee waiver is available for any applicant who meets any of the following circumstances:
- Students who received or are eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver.
- Students who enrolled or are eligible enroll in the federal Free and Reduced-Price Lunch (FRPL) program.
- Students who participate in a federal, state or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).
- Students who reside in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home or are homeless.
- Students who are a ward of the state or an orphan.
- Students with a family income falling within the income eligibility guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
- Students with a family receiving public assistance.
Additional Fee Waivers
Beyond the Common App fee waiver, there are institution-specific waivers for the following individuals on the William & Mary Common App Supplement:
- Students who identify as a first-generation college student (neither parent completed a bachelor's degree at a college or university).
- Students who are eligible to receive a Pell Grant.
- Students who have participated in a full-time service year such as through an AmeriCorps program.
- Students who have or are honorably serving in the armed forces of the United States.
- Students who are attending participating schools who apply during Virginia College Application Week (VCAW).
- For situations not listed above, students may request a fee waiver by providing a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor, financial aid officer or community leader that the application fee poses a burden.
