Dr. Sean Hearne, President and CEO of Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA), leads the management of the Department of Energy's Jefferson Laboratory. Dr. Hearne is driving SURA's transformation into a premier member-based organization for cutting-edge science. With over two decades of leadership in DOE laboratories, his expertise spans quantum materials, advanced manufacturing, energy, and space systems. He has directed DOE user facilities at Oak Ridge and Sandia National Labs and managed ORNL’s division of Materials Science. A Fellow of APS, he earned a Ph.D. and M.S. in Solid State Physics, authored diverse publications and patents, and served as the 2018 President of the Materials Research Society.
