National Security Internship Program
Whether examining ways to improve energy resilience with the National Defense University or holding an internship with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, we are here for you.
In cooperation with campus partners, the Whole of Government Center of Excellence (WGC) National Security Internship Program (NSIP) is a community hub for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers related to defense, intelligence, and other related work. Our students are placed in elite positions with the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Combatant Command headquarters, military war colleges and bases, intelligence agencies, and other public policy departments.
WGC works with federal stakeholders and students to create transformative opportunities to serve the nation and Commonwealth of Virginia. Together with their supervisors, students are exposed to real-world, real-impact work while strengthening the nation’s security and trained workforce.
With many of these positions, students are granted a security clearance, which can lead to other opportunities in the broader national security community. We also welcome students who have received their internship in a national-security field through other means and provide them with guidance.
