Sustainability across our curriculum

William & Mary offers a wide variety of opportunities to engage with sustainability in our curriculum- whether you are looking to take a single course or intend to major in a sustainability related field.

We are uniquely positioned to help address the challenges of a changing world through student impact and university research. Engaging with sustainability in our curriculum encourages cross discipline studies and prepares students to be critical, creative, system thinkers through classroom and co-curricular engagement.  Students can enroll in a courses that highlight sustainability or explore the academic programs and research opportunities that focus on the subject.

Environment & Sustainability

The Environment & Sustainability program (ENSP) helps students become an innovative change makers who carry a vision of how to resolve our contemporary environmental problems through science, policy and imagination. This program reaches across the humanities, natural sciences and social sciences, and is one of the most integrative environmental programs in the nation. Students can major or minor in Environmental & Sustainability.

Institute for Integrative Conservation

The Institute for Integrative Conservation (IIC) has a mission to empower an inclusive community of thought leaders to create and deliver timely, innovative solutions to the world's most pressing conservation challenges.  We envision a future in which people and nature are inextricably, equitably, and justly connected, and the natural environment thrives for current and future generations.
