Commonly referred to as the "Divine Nine," the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. is comprised of nine historically African American fraternities and sororities. During an era when African Americans were denied rights and privileges afforded to others and faced racial isolation and social barriers, these organizations provided an opportunity for African American students on college campuses to come together with other students who shared common goals and ideals.
Goals of the W&M NPHC
- To provide a forum for members of the historically African American fraternities and sororities at William & Mary to discuss relevant issues.
- To increase awareness on campus of the purpose, programs, and initiatives of the NPHC and its affiliate member organizations.
