Respiratory Protection
The William & Mary Respiratory Protection Program is managed by the Environmental Health and Safety office and complies with 29 CFR 1910.134. The respiratory protection program is implemented whenever elimination, substitution, effective engineering controls and administrative controls cannot feasibly reduce harmful air contaminants to acceptable levels. Employees required to utilize respiratory protection will be enrolled in the Respiratory Protection program which includes medical evaluations, training and fit-testing to qualify an employee for respirator use. If you believe work that you conduct may require the use of a respirator contact the EH&S Office to have the work processes reviewed to determine the need for respiratory protection.
