Transferring from Richard Bland College
William & Mary welcomes applications from students applying from Richard Bland College (RBC). W&M also offers application fee waivers to RBC students. W&M encourages students to participate in the Guaranteed Admission Agreement (GAA) that W&M has established with RBC.
The Office of Undergraduate Admission has more information about our RBC transfer agreements, including the Guaranteed Admission Agreement.
Guaranteed Admission
Admission to W&M is guaranteed if the RBC student:
- Completes a transfer-oriented associate's degree
- Achieves a minimum GPA of 3.25
- Earns a minimum of 45 credit hours of the total required for the transfer-oriented associates degree at RBC following graduation from high school
- Note: Admission into the Mason School of Business at W&M is NOT guaranteed by the GAA.
Transfer Virginia Portal
Transfer Virginia provides transparent, accessible, consistent and current information to students throughout the college selection, enrollment and transfer process. You can research, plan and organize your college and transfer journey using the information and resources available within this portal from Virginia’s participating institutions.
Bridge Program
This allows currently enrolled students at Richard Bland to take courses at W&M while pursuing their associate degree and while working towards completion of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement. Contact Student Success at studentsuccess@rbc.edu or 804-862-6100 to find out how students should complete the Letter of Intent (pdf).
Promise Scholars Program
In order to ease the transition into William & Mary, the Promise Scholars program is designed for Virginia residents who are eligible for a Pell Grant. Richard Bland College will select a small cohort of Promise Scholars each year who will receive scholarship funds to enroll in William & Mary courses taught on the campus of Richard Bland College. Students who successfully complete this program will receive guaranteed admission to William & Mary with junior status. For more information about enrolling in this program, please contact Richard Bland College at 804-862-6100.
