Walking Sites of Memory: Remembering and Reflecting

Description: This project has developed over several years with the goal of guiding walkers on a reflective journey on the racial injustices in Williamsburg’s past. Many of the StoryMap sites on the trail are on the campus of William & Mary. Other sites occupy areas throughout Williamsburg and James City County. The walk serves as an exploration into past histories, current reflections, and interpretations of communities’ experiences with racial injustices. Each site contains a detailed summary of the history of the site, offers a creative practice at the end in the form of poetry and writing prompts, and presents additional links to information for those who wish to learn more.
