Minor in Italian Studies
If you want to take your study of Italian beyond the basics, you may want to consider a minor in Italian Studies. Our minor requires only 18 credit hours beyond Italian 202/203. Advanced study of Italian language and culture can enhance career opportunities. It can also give you the opportunity to pursue cultural interests that can fuel a lifetime of personal exploration.
A minor in Italian Studies may especially enhance majors in European Studies, Film & Media Studies, Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies, Medieval & Renaissance Studies, International Relations, Music, and Art & Art History.
Options for a Major
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures does not offer a major in Italian Studies. If you want to go beyond a minor in Italian, you can design an interdisciplinary major with a concentration in Italian Studies through the Charles Center. If interested, contact the Italian Program director or the faculty member with whom you would like to work.
You can also look into the major in Global Studies with a European Studies concentration. This major offers great flexibility to combine language study with coursework in a range of disciplines including the history, anthropology, art, literature, religions, and politics of Europe.
