Kathryn Grossman Gives Lecture on Animal Sacrifice
On Thursday, October 5, the Department of Classical Studies and the Archaeological Institute of America hosted Kathryn Grossman for her talk, “Human-Animal-Divine Relationships in Cyprus: A Social Zooarchaeology of Sacrifice.” Dr. Grossman’s engaging talk focused on her current project, which reexamines the archaeological remains at various sanctuaries around Cyprus to illuminate the nature of animal sacrifice on the island. The remains of various animal bones attest to a dynamic and vibrant history of sacrifice in Cyprus from the Neolithic Period to the Archaic period.
