Careers In and Beyond Classical Studies
Our almunae and alumni have gone on to a variety of careers after their time at William & Mary - some go to law school, some have founded their own businesses, some have become doctors. Here you will find a series of career profiles that highlight their diverse paths beyond W&M, often with some really useful bits of advice.
Many report that their time with us was foundational, not necessarily because they still read Latin or Greek every day, but because studying ancient languages and cultures gave them skills in writing and critical thinking that have served them well. And, because studying in a department like ours that values professor-student interaction meant that they got lots of personal attention and feedback.
Of course, we also have a stellar record in placing our students in MA and PhD programs. In recent years, we have placed our students in top-tier programs, including Princeton, Stanford, the University of Michigan, the University of North Carolina, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Colorado, Bryn Mawr, and many others.
