Madeleine Kent

Hi! My name is Madeleine Kent, and I want to be your Class of 2025 Senator. Fast facts about me: I am double majoring in Art History/History, I'm a transfer student, Monroe Scholar, and work in the Athletics Department. The past three years on campus I have engaged with our community through clubs, volunteering, and my job. I love being involved and helping make William & Mary a better place- and I believe I can aid Student Assembly in making campus a place we are all proud to be a part of. The agenda I seek to bring with me to Student Assembly includes: supporting mental health initiatives, increasing academic year research funding and opportunities, funding and planning student experiences, and increasing student parking. While the Class of 2025 may be on our way out, let's finish the year strong and leave campus better than we found it!

Kyle Lewis-Johnson

I am running as the class of 2025’s Senator to better bring a new host of ideas and experiences to the overall Student Assembly body and am excited to begin a journey of working with those across William & Mary, and especially within the senior class, to learn more about what it is they want out of this next academic year and how I, my fellow Senators, the various branches of Student Assembly, and the community as a whole, can help them to determine this. As a former Undersecretary of Special Events and Undersecretary of Student Life, I have seen firsthand what it is that excites and encourages the various students in the student body, and have learned more about what it is that those within my class are ready to promote and experience their senior year. I look forward to running and bringing change to our beautiful campus.

Joseph Chaij

Coming from a small town in Texas, I understand the power of community. Community can bring people together, community can make the impossible possible, community can save lives. William and Mary is a community, one that houses some of the sharpest and most diverse minds in the nation. The community here is strong, but it is up to us, the people, to acknowledge and uphold it. We need to ensure that all voices are heard and everyone is welcome at this institution. This is what I recognize as the first priority of this institution. If elected I will ensure that this sense of community is not only upheld, but I will ensure that it grows and flourishes.

Ian Chen

Greetings -- I'm looking to be your Class of 2028 Senator to represent you and be your voice. I am running to make William and Mary a more inclusive, engaged, and forward-thinking campus. As freshmen, we are the next generation of campus leaders. My platform focuses on giving us a direct role in decision-making. I plan to expand student government, making it easier for everyone to get involved, and establish freshman advisory committees to provide input on key issues and propose policy ideas that directly impact our experience. Additionally, I'm passionate about reducing food waste through partnerships with dining services and having freshman-centric social events, both on and off-campus. We are the future—not just of William and Mary, but as leaders who will soon shape our country. I look forward to meeting and hopefully working with all of you soon. Thank you.

I bring leadership experience to help our William & Mary community reach its full potential. Yasmin Kudrati-Plummer

Hi! My name is Yasmin Kudrati-Plummer and I’m running to be a Class Senator. For those who don’t know me, I love to sing, I'm a twin, and I grew up in Tanzania! In HS, I was the Student Body President, additionally working as chair of our Mental Health Coalition, founder of our Sexual Assault Awareness Committee, co-chair of my county-wide Superintendent Advisory Council, and a liaison of the Principal's Advisory Council and Human Resources Committees. Brennan Metz

Hello! My name is Brennan Metz, and I am a Theater/Government major. I feel that serving a community isn't a title for an application, it's about making a difference. Whether it's organizing events, advocating for new policies, or representing the voices of your peers, effective leadership is about understanding and addressing the needs of those who are affected the most, the students. I come from a rich background of service, helping to establish the first diversity committee within my county, influenced student policy as a school board rep, and taken part in nationwide conferences as a keynote speaker. I aim to serve W&M with the same commitment to students I’ve always possessed. W&M needs better wheelchair accessibility, textbooks for low-income students, and better funding for students in our film department. Voting Metz for Senator is a vote for not just better leadership, but a better William and Mary.

George Mollenkramer

Hi, I’m George Mollenkramer, a candidate for Freshman Senator. If I were voting, the most important trait I would like to see in my Senator is approachability. I’m a student you can feel comfortable walking up to, sharing thoughts and concerns with. I recognize that down-to-earth communication is needed for the Assembly’s presence to be felt. When asked about how we are solving problems or improving campus life, I’ll avoid namedropping initiatives that the everyday student doesn’t know, and get down to details you care about. I come as a candidate with leadership experience, in clubs and student council, and I can hold my own in a debate, advocating your ideas. In my positions I learned the importance of dialogue & openness, the difference between acknowledging, and acting to promote the diversity of opinions on campus. With me your Senator, you elect a hard worker, putting student power to work.

Samuel Newell

As someone who spent two years in student government in high school and has experience with budgets, planning events, and collaborating with others, I would love to continue to serve by being one of your freshman senators. While in office, I will work on three main issues: 1. Providing students greater access to long term therapy either on or off campus 2. Furthering partnerships with local businesses to plan more events (such as reestablishing Busch Gardens Day) 3. Introducing a short term bike/scooter rental service to campus (that functions similarly to Lime) I am committed to continue making campus welcoming for all students, advocating for student concerns to admin, and remaining approachable, available, and transparent. I will bring experience and the values of empathy, work ethic, and student empowerment to the position in order to serve our class. Vote Sam Newell so we can get to work!

Ryan Silien

My name is Ryan Silien, and I’m honored to be running for Class of 2028 Student Senator. I’m excited to leverage my experiences as Student Government VP and as an intern for Maryland Governor Wes Moore to serve you. My platform is as simple as the ABCs: Advocacy, Betterment, and Communication. As an advocate for the Class of 2028, I’ll fight to make sure your voice is heard and bring your ideas to life. To better your student experience, I’ll work to improve night-time lighting on campus, ensure clubs are funded for exciting events (and free food!), improve campus dining, and reduce laundry fees. Finally, I’ll communicate, helping you connect with the administration and Student Assembly. To maximize your W&M experience, it’s as easy as the ABCs and voting Silien for Senate. My name is Henry Wilkins, and I come from Norwalk, Connecticut! I'm planning on double majoring in Economics and Government, and I'm super excited for the possibility of getting to represent you this year. I served as Junior and Senior Class President in high school, and it gave me some great experience regarding what's required and expected of a student representative. I really enjoy talking with people; hearing out your peeves and concerns is paramount to a successful term serving you.
