William & Mary Supervisors Institute
The William & Mary Supervisors Institute focuses on the first level of leadership: the frontline supervisor. Common traits of the most successful supervisors include effective communication, supporting the development of their team members, and creating a supportive work environment. The modules in this Institute will provide a framework and foundation of core knowledge and skills to be successful in planning and assigning work, coaching and mentoring, and motivating others.
Goals
- Develop or further develop the practical skills and competencies of supervisors
- Provide conceptual frameworks for performing the more difficult roles of supervision
- Create consistent supervisory practices throughout the university
- Enhance individual, team, and department performance
- Establish a network of colleagues and a cache of resources to support supervisors
Spring 2024 W&M Supervisors Institute Details
Applications for the Spring 2024 Supervisors Institute are being accepted until noon on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Supervisors of full-time employees are encouraged to apply.
Dates and Times of the Institute:
The W&M Supervisors Institute will meet:
- Tuesday, January 30,
- Tuesday, February 6
- Tuesday, February 20
- Tuesday, March 5*
- Tuesday, March 19
All sessions are from 8:00 am - noon except for March 5*, which runs from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Attendance at all sessions and for the entire time is required to complete the institute.
