Remember To Update Menus When Changing Page Titles
There are times when you need to update the title of your webpage. To do this, edit the page, modify the Title field as necessary, then submit and publish the page.
If that page is an index page, remember to also review and update the Display Name field in the folder settings. Why? Because the display name is the link text that is displayed in your menus and breadcrumbs and they should be kept in sync. It can be a confusing experience for visitors if the navigation link they select does not clearly align with the title of the page they land on. They don't need to be an exact match, but they should be very close.
To update the Display Name:
- View or right-click the folder containing the index page
- Select Edit
- Enter the new Display Name
- Submit the folder
- Because changing the Display Name impacts your page menus, publish that folder's parent folder. If you forget this step, the weekly overnight publish job will eventually publish the change.
