Biohazardous Waste
Biohazardous waste pickup form
Biohazardous waste is defined as any waste containing infectious materials or potentially infectious substances such as blood or other fluids. Of special concern are sharp wastes such as needles, blades, glass pipettes, and other wastes that can cause injury during handling.
Biohazardous waste produced on campus by university departments is collected by EH&S.
All biohazardous wastes must be labeled as such and kept only in closed containers unless actively adding to the container. Once full, bags must be tied or taped closed prior to pickup by EH&S. Waste must be kept secured at all times and may not be left unsecured in hallways or other such areas.
Biohazardous waste is produced in various areas on campus and is collected by only EH&S staff members that are trained to handle such waste. For a biohazardous waste pickup, fill out the biohazardous waste pickup form.
