All post-doctoral fellows will participate in a bi-monthly skills development series over the course of an academic year. Learning from faculty and high-level practitioners both inside and outside the William & Mary community, fellows will hone their skills in such areas as:
Grant writing
Writing op-eds
Working with the military and government agencies
Applying academic ideas and methods to policy solutions
Engaging the think tank and NGO world
Publishing academic manuscripts
Giving official government briefings
Managing a research lab
These workshops will allow post-doctoral fellows to get to know one another and encourage multidisciplinary collaboration. Additionally, post-doctoral fellows will work one-on-one with designated mentors to develop skills specific to their own research areas. Beyond the structured program, GRI offers a range of research seminars and programming where fellows can present their own work and learn about the research interests of other scholars at GRI and William & Mary.
