From the Center for Student Diversity
The Center for Student Diversity had a very successful academic year. A few highlights from the year include, but are not limited to:
- The Center for Student Diversity hosted 2 major conferences. The first was a one-day Interfaith Conference, “TheImportance of Multi-Faith Understanding and the Dangers of Religious Intolerance.” The second was “Issues ofIdentity Conference.”
- Safe Zone has trained 113 new volunteers during this academic year.
- Thirty-eight students were admitted to the Preparing for Life as a University Student, (PLUS) program. This is abridge program specifically for admitted freshmen targeting students of color, first generation, rural students, lowincome student and other select criteria.
- CSD is awaiting the results of a student survey on religious and spiritual climate to be released in August 2014.
- There are 4 Community Engagement Fellowships offered this year in the areas of Education, Health & Nutrition,Alternative Breaks & Health Literacy and Citizen Engagement.W&M selected to participate in inaugural PULSE Initiative.
