Tarun Chandrasekar '23
Tarun is a rising senior who is currently majoring in Neuroscience and intending to minor in Biochemistry. He is interested in studying how international policy and foreign relations can affect healthcare systems around the world and is excited to be a part of the Global Scholars Program to enrich his knowledge on these subjects. Currently, Tarun works as a volunteer research assistant in Dr. Xu’s Dispositions, Goals, and Ideologies Labs where he is investigating how and why people are attracted to anti-vaccination movements. He also volunteers at the House of Mercy and as a crisis counselor volunteer for IMALIVE. In his free time, Tarun loves to read, weightlift, and hang out with friends in Colonial Williamsburg.
Mathieu Changeux '25
Mathieu is a rising sophomore at William & Mary who is majoring in Anthropology and plans to minor in Native Studies. A French, English, Spanish, Chinese, and Portuguese speaker and a dual citizen of France and the United States, he loves learning about the interactions between languages, culture, and society. He is passionate about how global policy and international diplomacy affect self-determination for Indigenous peoples, climate change, geopolitics, and democratic norms. He hopes to pursue a PhD in Pre-Columbian Studies and is excited to learn about the diverse policy perspectives the Global Scholars Program will illuminate in order to turn research and theory into action and tangible justice. In his free time, he loves to draw, learn languages, research history, read, write, play the saxophone and piano, be active in sports, and hang out with friends! He spent his first semester of college abroad in Sevilla, Spain, and loves traveling the world for the joy, education, and experience it brings.
Megan Clower '23
Megan completed her Associates of Arts with summa cum laude at Northern Virginia Community College before transferring to William and Mary where she is currently a senior. Megan is majoring in International Relations and has a high interest in global environmental issues, particularly those related to conservation and sustainability. Megan is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi ETA Sigma honor societies. Before going to college, Megan completed a two-year culinary certificate and participated in a German exchange program. She grew up in a military family and has spent a lot of time traveling which has influenced her interest in international affairs. In her spare time, she enjoys obstacle course races, Krav Maga, Kali, learning languages, and traveling.
Bennett Hawley '23
Bennett Fuchida Hawley is a 4th year in the International Honors Joint Degree Programme between the University of St Andrews and College of William & Mary. He studies international relations and environmental science policy with a geographical focus on Eurasia. Bennett has previously served as the Irwin & Taylor Scholar at the US Department of the Treasury and the Ambassador Harriman Fellow at US Embassy London. He has also held internships at the US State Department, DHInfrastructure providing consulting services for the World Bank, the Federal Innovator’s Salon, and the Japan Society of New York.
Bennett's academic interests are varied and deep. He has published work on the structure of the US foreign aid and international development community and the global trade in plastic waste. He has also conducted research on the structure of the US Intelligence Community, Japanese and German approaches to pacifism in international politics, China's Belt & Road Initiative, and the importance of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in modern military doctrine. Bennett is currently conducting an independent study on the link between the illicit trade in art and antiquities and terrorist financing and is writing his dissertation on American grand strategy.

Pietro Marino '23
Pietro is a rising senior at William & Mary from Chatham, New Jersey. As a Government and Marketing major, Pietro is interested in the intersection between policy making and private business, especially on the international level. On campus, Pietro works as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion chair for the professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, runs with the Club Track Team Blitz, and serves on the philanthropy committee for Students for University Advancement (SUA). He also serves as a Facilitator for the student-run consultancy group Tribe Innovation, acts as the Vice President of Finance for Sigma Phi Epsilon, and works at the Alumni House as an events staff. This past summer, Pietro worked as a Research & Policy Analyst intern for the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability (ANSA) in Cambodia as part of the Freeman Fellowship Program. He is excited for the many academic and professional opportunities offered through the GSP, and hopes to return to Southeast Asia next summer for his GSP internship.
Sailor Miao '24
Sailor Miao is in the Class of 2024 at William & Mary studying Government and Hispanic Studies. He is a Sharpe Scholar from Beijing, China. He attended a school in Alabama and graduated first in his class. He attended the Alabama Governor’s School. Academically, he enjoys studying Latin American culture and the Spanish language. At the same time, he is interested in American and Chinese politics. He also works at AidData TUFF China Team. Outside of classes, he served as a peer advisor for international students. He enjoys reading and watching TV shows. He is a member of Williamsburg Baptist Church. He hopes to engage with policymakers in Washington and gains insights in the Global Scholars Program.
Brennan Micheal '24
Brennen is a junior studying Government and Psychology. He is interested in National and International Security, especially the threat of emerging technologies and disinformation. Brennen has previously worked as an Intern for the Project on International Peace and Security, DisinfoLab, and U.S. Army TRADOC, G-2. Brennen hopes to work in intelligence or defense after graduating and is excited to receive mentorship through the Global Scholars Program. Outside academics, Brennen enjoys watching and playing soccer, hiking, and reading.
Julia Norsworthy-Edghill '25
Julia is a sophomore at W&M and intends to double major in History and Global Studies with a concentration in Russian & Post-Soviet Studies. Julia is originally from Arlington, VA, where she went to school before attending boarding school in Exeter, NH. At W&M, Julia is a marketing intern for the athletic department and a counselor for Camp Launch, a STEM camp hosted by the School of Education. In her free time, Julia enjoys reading historical fiction and learning languages. By participating in the Global Scholars Program, Julia hopes to develop a deeper understanding of foreign relations and gain invaluable experience.
Katelyn Oxer '25
Katelyn is a freshman studying Public Policy and Environmental Science and Policy at William and Mary. She is from a small high school in Gainesville, Florida. She enjoys painting, watching movies, and working out. Katelyn is interested in focusing on how government policies can affect global environmentalism, and creating beneficial policies in my own government. Aside from environmentalism, she is passionate about issues in healthcare, gender equality, and immigration. She is excited to make a positive difference in the world.
Junie Park '25
Junwon (Junie) is a sophomore studying Government and Data Science. He is interested in international policy and security and the role the United States plays on the international stage, especially in East Asia. Outside of class, he is the Vice President of Programming for the William & Mary chapter of the Alexander Hamilton Society, as well as the Vice President of the Theodore Roosevelt Society.
Noor Scavotto '24
Noor Scavotto is a junior at the College of William & Mary studying International Relations and Public Policy. Through her previous research at the Global Research Institute and academic interests, she is in the process of developing concentrations in Eastern Europe and Eurasia as well as the Middle East. Noor hopes to work in a career at the intersection of security and diplomacy. While working towards her academic and career goals, she is also the Assistant Coach for William & Mary’s club ice hockey team and a member in good standing of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity.
Elijah Tsai '25
Elijah is a sophomore studying International Relations and History. He is interested in historic and contemporary Human Rights issues and decolonization projects. He plans to work on both of these topics in international law post graduation. Outside of class Elijah loves calisthenics, fashion, and is an active member in the Chinese Student Organization.
Katherine Walter '25
Katherine Walter is in the Class of 2025 at William & Mary studying Global Studies, with a concentration in European Studies, and Government. She is a James Monroe Scholar from Glen Allen, Virginia. In high school, she was a student at the Center for the Humanities at Hermitage High School and graduated first in her class. She served as Captain of the Color Guard for Marching Band and as Dance Captain in the Theater Program. After many years as a Girl Scout, Katherine achieved the Girl Scout Gold Award in 2018, and in 2021, she received a scholarship from Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia. She was selected as one of 32 students statewide and participated in the 2019 Sorensen Institute's High School Leaders Program at the University of Virginia. She enjoyed this intensive summer program with concentrated study in Virginia politics and government. Katherine currently works as a Student Worker in the Student Leadership Development. Katherine has a deep passion for culture and its preservation, most specifically the cultural histories and stories from Europe. She is currently learning German and is traveling to Germany in the summer of 2022 as part of a study abroad emersion program through W&M and the Freie Universität Berlin. The program will combine intensive language training with culture experiences. Through the Global Scholars Program, Katherine hopes to gain experience in the field of global policy to prepare for a career involving international issues. As for personal interests, Katherine enjoys bird watching, reading, meeting new dogs, watching movies, going to musicals, and all things Marvel.
Aggie Wilkes '25
Aggie is a current member of the Class of 2025 at William & Mary. She plans on double majoring in Economics and Public Policy and is particularly interested in using economic policy to combat climate change. Aggie lives in Jersey City, NJ and went to high school in NYC before moving to Williamsburg. In her free time, she sails, dances, volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, participates in the W&M Sharpe Scholar Program, and takes care of her two dogs, Scout and Hanyak.
