History with CCE
I have been involved with the Williamsburg Engagement (WE) Program since the beginning of my freshman year. I spent my first year volunteering at the Williamsburg Community Growers, and then in 2021-22, I was a team leader at the Heritage Humane Society. In 2023-24, I was the team leader at the Grove Christian Outreach Center and this year/2024-25, I will be a team leader at the House of Mercy.
What excites you about being a WE team leader?
Being a part of the Williamsburg Engagement program has opened my eyes to the importance and joys of active citizenship. I have been able to witness first-hand how community relationships are developed and used to positively support social change. By working with different agencies, I have also been able to expand my perspective on service and justice, and I’ve observed different strategies for making a difference. I’m so excited to work with the House of Mercy this year and support the members of my team as they develop their own relationships with the Williamsburg community. I am especially looking forward to the opportunity to continue learning about and addressing food insecurity in our local neighborhoods. I hope to inspire more students to critically examine their role in our community and develop their passion for service
