On-Campus Recruiting
On-Campus Recruiting (OCR), whether in person or virtual, is a great opportunity to interview William & Mary students. While on-campus interviewing is a great tool for some recruiters, it may not be right for all. On-campus interviewing may be a good fit for organizations hiring for internships or full-time, salaried, degree-required professional jobs.
In-person OCR
We have multiple interview rooms on site for employers to use to interview students. To request a date for on-campus interviews, please request a schedule on TribeCareers in the OCR tab or contact our staff directly. All OCR job postings and schedules should be entered into TribeCareers where students apply and schedule interviews directly through the system. Check out our guide to requesting OCR (PDF).
Virtual OCR
We also provide the option to create a virtual OCR schedule through TribeCareers. A virtual OCR schedule should be used for interviewing W&M students over a specific day(s). You can utilize the TribeCareers module to build an interview schedule, post a position, and share your video link for the interview with students.
TribeCareers allows you to use whatever video platform you prefer for your interviews. When requesting a schedule for your interview day(s), you will have the option to select whether or not you will have “Virtual Interviews.” If you select “Yes” a new field will appear for you to input the link to your virtual meeting. Don’t worry if you do not have this information yet, you can always come back to this field or contact us to update your schedule.
Scheduling
Due to popular demand, OCR date scheduling begins the semester prior to the intended interview dates. (For instance, fall scheduling usually begins in late spring.) Scheduling is completed on a first-come, first-served basis. For priority registration opportunities, check out our Employer Sponsor Program. On-campus recruiting typically begins in mid-September for fall and mid-February for spring. These dates follow the Career & Internship Fair for each semester.
Interview Schedule Types
- Room Only Reservation: This schedule type allows you to reserve one or more of our interview rooms to interview candidates with whom you have already made contact. Once your date request is approved, contact your candidates to set individual interview times. You may also choose “Room Only” to request a greeting room or a room for colleagues to work in while on-campus in conjunction with your interview rooms.
- Preselect: This schedule type allows you the option of previewing interested candidates’ resumes and offering your preferred candidates the ability to select an interview time via an online sign up.
- Preselect to Alternate: This schedule type allows you the option of previewing interested candidates’ resumes and offering your preferred and alternate candidates the ability to select an interview time via an online sign up. Usually, preferred candidates will be allowed to sign up first, and alternate candidates will be offered the chance to sign up at a later date for any open interview times.
- Preselect to Open: This schedule type allows you the option of previewing interested candidates’ resumes and offering your preferred candidates the ability to select an interview time via an online sign up. If your preferred candidates do not select a slot in the designated window, there will be a second window of time where all applicants have the ability to select an open interview time via an online sign up.
- Preselect to Alternate to Open: This schedule type allows you the option of previewing interested candidates’ resumes and offering your preferred and alternate candidates the ability to select an interview time via an online sign up. If neither group fills your schedule, then there will be a window of time where all applicants will have the ability to select an open interview time via an online sign up.
- Open: This schedule type allows any and all applicants the ability to select an interview time via an online sign up. No candidate selection by the employer is needed for this schedule type.
