Lake Matoaka Dam Spillway
Rehabilitation of the Lake Matoaka Dam will allow for the safe overtopping of the embankment during an event of Probable Maximum Precipitation, bringing the dam into compliance with State Dam Safety Regulations. To achieve this, the downstream slope will be flattened, an articulated concrete mat (ACM) will be installed to armor against erosion and scour, concrete parapet and training walls will direct overtopping flows through the armored portion of the embankment, the existing box culvert will be repaired and modified to accommodate the new design, and a siphon will be installed through the existing spillway to regulate the upstream normal pool elevation.
