W&M BOV previews meeting with blog
In advance of this week’s regular meeting of the William & Mary Board of Visitors, Michael K. Powell, Rector of the College, posted the next installment of the BOV’s new Web blog.
The Board announced the blog in December as a way to enhance communications with students, alumni, faculty and staff. The Board will meet February 4-6, 2009 in Williamsburg on the third floor of Blow Memorial Hall, located at 262 Richmond Road. Powell's most recent blog includes updates on the College's current economic challenges, and other items the Board will consider during its meeting. He said the Board will spend a good deal of time on the College's strategic planning process.
"The Planning Committee has honed in on six draft grand challenges that will form the core of this year's strategic plan," Powell said. "In this current phase, the subcommittee for each challenge will be working to develop measurable goals and objectives. At our Board meeting, we plan on focusing on a few of the most critical challenges."
In addition to the blog, the Board's Web site also includes recordings of open sessions during the regular BOV meetings as well as PowerPoint presentations. Recordings and PowerPoints from the November meeting are currently posted on the site. Visitors to the site can click and listen to the meeting, download the file, or even get it on iTunes U. Visitors to the Web site can also subscribe to an RSS feed, which will notify them whenever something new is posted on the site.
The blog also updates readers on recent news about the College, including last month's announcement that the Princeton Review ranked William & Mary its third-best value among public universities and alumnus Mike Tomlin ('95), who just became the youngest head coach in the history of the NFL to win a Super Bowl.
