The College of William and Mary’s Board of Visitors has launched a revamped Web site complete with a blog, audio clips and PowerPoint presentations from their regular meetings.

Michael K. Powell, Rector of the College, announced at last month’s meetings that the Board was exploring ways to enhance communication with students, alumni, faculty and staff. As part of that effort, the Board recorded open sessions of the committee meetings held Nov. 19-21, 2008. Those recordings, in addition to PowerPoint committee presentations and the BOV blog, are now posted on the Board’s Web site.

“The BOV blog and audio files are part of an ongoing effort to communicate more effectively with alumni and the College community,” Powell said. “This is an important time in the College’s history and we hope they find this updated Web site useful and informative as we move forward.”

After each meeting and perhaps more frequently, Powell will blog a summary of what happened during the meetings. The Board will also post audio files from each of their committee meetings. Visitors to the site will be able to click and listen to the meeting, download the file, or even get it on iTunes U, Powell said. The Rector’s first blog recaps last month’s Board meetings, which included extensive discussion and review of the ongoing strategic planning process and an update on the current budget situation.

Powell said visitors to the Web site can also subscribe to an RSS feed, which will notify them whenever something new is posted on the site. The next BOV meeting is scheduled for Feb. 5-6, 2009.
