About Allison

Allison is a junior studying Kinesiology and Health Sciences with a concentration in Human Nutrition and Economics. Her first research experience was a project about developing ecotourism in a rural municipality in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Ecotourism is a branch of sustainable tourism that has the potential to conserve the natural environment and improve local communities. This research centered around a larger goal of finding improvements for the health and economic development of rural South Africa and inspired Alison's next research project studying medical tourism's potential impacts on the South African health system. Today, her research interests include topics in health and economics, particularly in the context of development.
