Advisor of the Year 2021
This year's Monica Potkay Advisor of the Year Award goes to Dawn Edmiston of the Mason School of Business. She serves as Clinical Professor of Marketing in the Mason School, where she has received multiple teaching awards. Dawn is also a William and Mary graduate, having recently received her Doctorate in Education here. She also holds a Doctor of Management from the University of Maryland, as well as an MBA from Columbia University.
Every Spring, we survey our students about their advising experiences, and Professor Edmiston consistently draws raves from her advisees. For example, one student said: "I feel confident that she is the optimal advisor to guide me through the process of experimenting and exploring responsibly throughout my first couple of years at W&M."
Another student commented: "I could not have asked for a more supportive advisor. She checked in periodically throughout the semester to see how I was doing or if I had any concerns she could help out with. She also would send me emails with campus opportunities that she thought I would be interested in and that she thought would help me professionally."
Dr. Edmiston is a model undergraduate advisor, and we are proud to honor her with this award.
