Cary Street Ramblers play a wide variety of Appalachian string band music. The band is led by Tripp Johnson, College of William & Mary Appalachian Music Ensemble Director and Instructor of mandolin, guitar and banjo. Other band members include his wife, Jenny Johnson (guitar, banjo), Chelyen Davis (fiddle), and Chris Rea (bass). Based in Richmond, Virginia, they have performed throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia. Venues have included everything from clubs, festivals, dances, and radio shows, to the Virginia Governor’s Mansion, Senator fund raisers, and Vice Presidential rallies. The Ramblers’ collection of tunes and songs appeals to a broad audience of music enthusiasts.
