Major in French & Francophone Studies
The Department of Modern Languages offers a B.A. in French & Francophone Studies. Requirements for the major in French & Francophone Studies are very flexible. All majors take three core courses. These courses provide a solid basis in the culture, language, and literature of the French-speaking world. The rest are courses that you select with guidance from your major advisor.
You may choose any French & Francophone Studies faculty member to be your major advisor. Your advisor will help you develop a plan of study that meets your career and academic goals. They can also help you choose a study abroad experience or help you discover research opportunities. We encourage all majors to both study abroad and conduct independent research. If you are a particularly strong student, you should consider doing an Honors project.
Many students who major in French & Francophone Studies have a double major, depending on their career or graduate school aspirations.
