Catherine Brix specializes in contemporary Latin American literature and cultural studies, particularly Southern Cone testimonial literature from the Dirty War. Her research uses interdisciplinary methodologies from political theory, gender studies, and peace studies and focuses on intersections of literature, art, and human rights issues. She completed her PhD in Spanish at the University of Notre Dame, MA in Spanish at the University of Northern Iowa, and BAs in Spanish and Art at Central College.
