Mosaic House
Program Purpose & Goals
Mosaic House is a co-curricular, co-educational residential house located in Hardy Hall. Students in Mosaic House are involved in ongoing intellectual exchanges about culture, diversity, the interracial community, and sexuality.
Student Experience
Mosaic House provides a supportive space for students who wish to expand their cross-cultural understanding. Students who live in Mosaic House have a private node of rooms and their lounge. They organize events that serve both their members and the broader W&M community.
Rising sophomores, juniors or seniors from any discipline are eligible. Students must be in good academic standing to be considered for Mosaic House. Participants must already have taken at least one course on diversity issues before moving into Mosaic House, and they must take one additional course during their first year in Mosaic House to be considered for readmission.
Learning Outcomes
Courses from across the curriculum may address race and ethnicity, gender, sex and sexuality, cultural diversity (including immigrant issues in the U.S. or elsewhere in the world), and religious diversity. Mosaic residents are also expected to help organize and participate in activities organized by Mosaic House during their year(s) of residence and to serve on at least one Mosaic House committee each academic year. A record of Mosaic House committee service and Mosaic House activity participation is also required for readmission to Mosaic House.
