Funding Opportunities

We are committed to empowering faculty and staff to do their best work. In addition to A&S funds, we are fortunate to have a number of generous donors who enable us to offer even more opportunities for growth, development, scholarship and discovery. Faculty and staff members can access funding in a variety of ways and for a variety of purposes. Listed below are sources of funding available from A&S to support faculty research, curricular innovation, co-curricular engagement with students, department/program development activities, staff professional development and more.

Faculty & Staff Funding Opportunities

  • Dean's Innovation Fund

    The Dean's Innovation Fund supports new programs, pilot projects or other innovations.

  • Faculty Grants Fund

    For A&S tenured and tenure-eligible faculty: Funding is available for research projects, events, conference travel, faculty development, and student wages tied to specific research projects.

  • Teaching Faculty Grants Fund

    For A&S teaching faculty: Funding is available for activities related to pedagogy or curricular development, conference travel and faculty development.

  • Open Inquiry Awards

    A&S Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion offers up to $500 for faculty to support open inquiry in non-COLL courses, including guest expenses, professional development, site visits, and course materials.

  • COLL Innovation Grants

    The Center for the Liberal Arts offers up to $1,000 in mini-grants for designing and implementing COLL courses as well as support for supplemental activities/visitors in COLL courses.

  • Charles Center Funding

    The Charles Center offers mini-grants for non-COLL course co-curricular activities (up to $500) and guest lectures (up to $1,000), as well as May Seminars for faculty collaboration on curriculum and teaching improvements.

  • A&S Dean's Office Funding

    The A&S Annual Fund supports department or program events, including speakers or guests, and other professional development opportunities for faculty and staff not eligible for funding from any other source.
