Chemistry’s Jeff Molloy Receives MBA during Mason School of Business Commencement
Not only does Jeff Molloy, Director of Laboratories & Instrumentation, know how to run in-person (or remote!) lab classes for 500+ undergraduates, he also knows how to juggle work, home, church, hobbies, family and his own continuing education. Since commencement weekend, he has one less ball to manage. Chemistry is proud to congratulate Jeff on earning his MBA from the Mason School of Business’ Flex MBA program on May 21st.
Jeff is a lifelong learner, tinkerer and educator. After earning an undergraduate degree here at W&M, he received a MS in Chemistry at the University of Delaware. He was taking care of instruments and teaching Chemistry at James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, before coming back to Williamsburg. At his most recent Tribe commencement, he was awarded the Trustee Award for the highest GPA in his Flex MBA group.
Here in the Integrated Science Center, Jeff can be seen palleting vacuum pumps for repair, arranging pipetter calibration, installing the new fluorimeter, updating student lab manuals and leveling balances after the pile drivers working on PBK have jostled all the department’s equipment out-of-whack – again! Fixing things comes easily to him, and surprisingly he still enjoys the challenge. Since his MBA is complete, he has more time to tinker at home, whether that is with his ham radio, one of the cars older than his children, or some project on the to-do list.
He continues to find time for family, church and helping raise his 2 year-old grandson while his mom is busy finishing her degree to be a special education teacher. “That boy is so interested in everything,” says Grandpa, “he fights naps and nighttime. When I cook dinner, he is right there taking scraps and making his own creations. But his favorite thing is driving his little car, which he crashes into every surface he can.” Sounds like more work on Grandpa Molloy’s to-do list!
We hope Jeff continues to find joy in his productive and busy life, and that the Tribe continues to benefit from his many talents. Well done Jeff! Many congratulations from Chemistry for keeping all those balls in the air, you make it look effortless.
