Term Professorships & Fellowships

Weingartner-1

Weingartner professorship

The Weingartner Professor is appointed for a three-year term and is not renewable. The recipient receives an annual $5,000 stipend and up to $3,000 annually in research support and is responsible for teaching a seminar relating to international policy issues during the summer or academic year.

In addition, summer research stipends that account for associated expenses will be awarded to up to four undergraduate student collaborators. The faculty member will work with the Charles Center to coordinate the Student Fellows program.

Sharpe

Sharpe Professor of Civic Renewal and Entrepreneurship

The Sharpe Professor of Civic Renewal and Entrepreneurship was established through a generous gift from Jane A. Sharpe and the late Robert F. Sharpe. This professorship supports teaching with Community-based Learning and Research, reinforcing W&M’s commitment to innovative teaching and research that integrates community engagement with academic study.

This professorship is awarded for a three-year term and is not renewable.

Jay Watkins

Community Studies (CMST) Faculty Fellowship

The Community Studies (CMST) Faculty Fellowship aims to increase the capacity of A&S (TE & TF) faculty to teach and mentor students in a substantial community-based research project, with support to sustain a partnership and related activity for the three-year (3-yr) term of the fellowship.

The fellow receives a $4k salary stipend for each year of the term and up to $2k per year for the community-based research project, with budget subject to approval by the Charles Center.

English-Stonehouse Fellowship

The English-Stonehouse Faculty Fellow, a W&M faculty member, is appointed for two years and receives a $4,000 stipend and an additional $1,000 to cover research-related expenses each year.

The Faculty Fellow selects two undergraduate Student Fellows who each receive a $4,000 stipend per summer to support their work in the team research project.

The English-Stonehouse Fellowship is funded through the generosity of Cory English.

Glauber Faculty-Student Research Fellows and Scholarship Fund

The Margaret S. Glauber Faculty-Student Research Fellows and Scholarship Fund supports faculty-student research collaborations in the humanities and social sciences. The program is made possible through the generosity of the late Margaret "Maggie" Glauber '51.

The Glauber Faculty Fellow is a W&M faculty member who receives $5,000 per year for summer salary or for research support for a two-year term.  Each year, the Faculty Fellow selects two Glauber Student Fellows who receive $4,000 each for their summer research projects and, when eligible, additional need-based student financial aid.
