Grimsley Board Room (Blow 201) support

The touchscreen A/V console is located to the right of the podium.Hello!

Though we have attempted to make the technology in the Grimsley Board Room (Blow 201) fully functional and easy to use, you may very well encounter challenges with the A/V while setting up your event.

We cannot promise that you are not going to have to call/email the Technology Support Center (757-221-4357/[[support]]), but below are solutions to the most common issues experienced with the room's A/V system.  We hope the following information will help to answer as many of your questions as possible before you must call in the experts.

Display issues

The main issue you may encounter involves the display.  Here's what to do if you lower the large screen over the mantle, and it does not mirror the podium computer:

  • Use the keystroke combination “WINDOWS-P” and then choose the display choice you want. Usually, this will be “DUPLICATE SCREEN.”
Zoom

If you are trying to use Zoom in Blow 201, you will need to follow these instructions:

  • Log onto the PC at the lectern with your normal log on information.
  • On the console, touch the screen to wake it up.
  • Turn on the system by selecting the PC tile.
  • On the computer go to the start button in the lower center of the screen and start Zoom.
  • You will need to make sure the cameras are on. To do this, on the console there is toggle button “CAMERA ON/CAMERA OFF’ on the left side of the console screen. CAMERA ON and CAMERA ONE should be lit blue.
  • If the audio is not detecting the microphone, go to microphone settings and make sure that the drop-down menu says SAME AS SYSTEM.
  • Important note: Please do not turn off the PC on the CPU directly or shut down the system from the START menu. You may “RESTART” the system safely. Shut down the system only with the consent of IT.  Thank you!

When the camera is "off," it is turned sideways and a pink light is illuminated (the camera can be seen here below the projector near the room's entranceway). When the camera is "on," it faces the front of the room, and its light is green.

As an FYI: when the camera is "off," it is turned sideways, and a pink light is illuminated.

When the camera is "on," it faces the front of the room, and the light is green.  Camera is mounted about the door to Blow 201. Camera 2 is behind the podium.
