Establishing Expectations
A key component in crafting a transparent pedagogy is establishing expectations for course participants - meaning both students and faculty. Be open with your students about your expectations for their work and for your own work with the course. This includes establishing ground rules for discussions, lectures, and participation. You may also want to consider letting students know how you plan to approach different course logistics such as how you will establish student groups and how you plan to solicit and incorporate student feedback throughout the course.
