Facilities and Equipment
The Biology Department is housed in the newly-constructed (2008-2016) Integrated Science Center.
Departmental research and teaching topics range from molecules to landscapes. Our facilities and equipment reflect that broad scope, providing students and faculty with the equipment and resources to engage in active research and hands-on learning in the life sciences. Available field sites include Lake Matoaka, where the Keck Environmental Field Lab is located. The department also supports microscopy and photographic facilities, molecular facilities, state-of-the-art animal care facilities, a greenhouse, an herbarium, a wood/electronics shop, as well as a full array of field ecology sampling equipment. We also facilitate requests for ethanol distribution to support preservation needs in various research and teaching applications. Also on campus is the Center for Conservation Biology.
