Background
In 2005, Stephanie completed her MA in Language Description and Documentation in the Hans Rausing Endangered Languages Academic Programme, (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London). After working for several years as a contract linguist for the National Museum of Natural History, she began her PhD in 2008. Stephanie worked with the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, assisting in Koasati language documentation and revitalization efforts while conducting her doctoral research. The resulting dissertation focused on the integration of newly innovated literacies into established language socialization practices, and the relationship between changing language practices and Coushatta identity.
