Costs, Aid & Scholarships

Affording exceptional students the opportunity to attend William & Mary

An education here provides life-changing experiences and the highest quality teaching, learning and research opportunities for all students, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The university’s investment in scholarship support grows every year, and the amount of need-based financial aid offered has doubled over the past decade. The Financial Aid Office provides detailed instructions on the application process.

$55 million in grants and scholarships distributed annually

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive federal aid and the CSS Profile to receive any additional financial aid.

Need-Based Financial Aid

All available aid resources (scholarships, grants, loans and federal work-study) are considered to meet as much student need as possible.

Merit-Based Awards

All first-year applicants are automatically considered for three merit-based awards. Students can also apply for additional scholarship opportunities.

ROTC Scholarships

The United States Army's Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program offers several scholarships to support education and training for the nation's future military officers.  

  • Army ROTC Scholarships: Two- to four-year options cover the cost of tuition and fees or a monthly stipend.
