How to Apply for a Job
- Search TribeCareers for jobs that interest you.
- Contact the department to express your interest in the position. Priority is given to work-study students receiving Federal Work-Study as part of your financial aid package. Be sure to indicate that when discussing possible employment.
- Some of the larger campus employers have scheduled employment sessions and offer on-site interviews. Be prepared to complete an application at the session and have your class schedule available.
- Submit your application and complete an interview with the hiring department. If selected for a position, provide necessary employment eligibility documentation.
How to Get on Payroll
The following forms must be completed on the first day of employment. Most forms are accessed using Banner Employee Self-Service. You can access Banner Self-Service by visiting myW&M and selecting the Banner icon, then clicking the "Employee" tab which will become available once your student employment forms have been processed by Financial Aid.
- Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) - Students may not work until the I-9 has been completed. A passport, social security card or birth certificate along with a driver's license are acceptable forms of identification for the I-9. If you plan to work on campus, please bring originals with you.
- Federal Tax Form (W-4) - Instructions to complete in Banner Self-Service

Paycheck Timing
It usually takes a month to receive your first paycheck. Pay periods run twice a month. Therefore, if you start work August 16, you will get your first check on September 16. This check will be for the time you worked August 16-31. Learn more about pay dates and holidays.
How to Complete Your Timesheet
You will complete a timesheet in Banner Self-Service and submit it online for your supervisor to approve. If you do not submit your timesheet online you will need to complete a manual timesheet in ink and have your supervisor sign off on the hours and send it in on your behalf.
