Background
As the Associate Director, I oversee the day-to-day functions of the CLA. In close collaboration with the Faculty Director and the Fellows, I help ensure the CLA provides programs and resources that support the faculty in the implementation of the COLL curriculum. One of my major areas of responsibility is the Campus COLL 300 program, where I partner with faculty proposers to coordinate all aspects of the 6 visits each year.
In addition to managing the daily operations of the CLA, I serve on the university's Assessment Steering Committee, the QEP Implementation Team, and the LGBTQ Task Force.
I earned my Ph.D. in Educational Planning, Policy & Leadership in the School of Education at William & Mary. My dissertation was an ethnography of U.S.-based faculty who led students on the Camino de Santiago as part of a study abroad program. My research examines how faculty members engage in sensemaking to contextualize various aspects of their work roles. I am also interested in how institutions can align faculty support and development efforts with a faculty growth approach - namely supporting faculty learning and creating opportunities for faculty to enact personal and professional agency in their work.
I currently teach an interdisciplinary COLL 150 course on faculty work, the graduate survey of the History of Higher Education, and courses related to the university's study abroad program in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
I arrived in the CLA in 2017 after 8 years in the university's Dean of Students Office, where I managed Enrollment Support Services, Transfer Student Services, and assisted with the creation and implementation of the Care Support Services program. I coordinated or participated in a number of committees related to admission, transfer policy, academic status, degree requirements, and student data management.
