Mariana Melo-Vega, Visiting Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies, received her Ph.D. from Yale University with a dissertation titled “The Politics of Emotions in the Narrative of the Peruvian Armed Conflict (1980-2000).” She is interested in Latin American political thought (19th-21st century) with a specialty in the Andean region, critical theory and Latin American film. At William & Mary she will teach a course on Latin American Radical Politics on Film during the Fall, and a comparative course on Mario Vargas Llosa and José María Arguedas during Spring 2017.
