Retirement
Depending on your retirement plan, you may contact VRS, TIAA or Fidelity (for ORP).
Virginia Retirement Service (VRS)
VRS delivers retirement and other benefits to Virginia public employees through sound financial stewardship and superior customer service. Once you have retired, VRS becomes your go to source for information. This link VRS retirees provides helpful information on cost of living adjustments, direct deposit schedules, insurance in retirement, naming a beneficiary, updating your information or working after retirement.

Optional Retirement Plan (ORP)/TIAA
If you are an ORP participant, upon retirement, TIAA will be your resource for any retirement questions. You can schedule a meeting with your plan representative at TIAA for assistance questions pertaining to your monthly retirement benefit. 1-800-842-2252 www.tiaa.org/public
If you retired prior to 2018, Fidelity may be your retirement administrator. Schedule a meeting directly with them for support or questions at 1-800-835-5095 (www.fidelity.com/customer-service/overview).
Post-Retirement Employment
Special rules apply to post-retirement employment which may impact employment eligibility, retirement contributions, insurance benefits and insurance. Visit DHRM's website for a brief overview.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Since William & Mary is a state agency, employees may be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. The PSLF program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
Verification of Employment
Verification of employment may be needed when an employer, or a designated third party such as a background check company, validates a job candidate’s employment history with the university.
