Alum Spotlight with Caleb Rogers

Join William & Mary alum and Williamsburg city council member, Caleb Rogers '20, on a discussion about how he became passionate about sustainability at the start of his career in politics. He will discuss his role at the clean energy company Voltus, his involvement in the World Bank's Global Youth Climate Network, and how he has advocated for better climate action and sustainable practices in the City of Williamsburg.

Going Green with James City County

James City County has many environmental efforts and initiatives underway! Come learn about the progress being made in JCC and ways that you can get involved. Cassie Cordova, Environmental Sustainability Coordinator, will share the details of JCC resources and upcoming events, including a Repair Fair to give your home items a second lease on life. Climate Change: What's Religion Got To Do With It?

Join Reverand Max Blalock and guests to discuss the interconnections between religious perspectives and climate change. Religious perspectives can be both an impetus and a barrier to engaging meaningfully around climate change. This discussion will be the beginning of the conversation, not the end.

Single-Use Plastics & Executive Order 77

W&M has been reducing the purchase and use of single-use plastics for some time as part of sustainability efforts. Governor Northam's Executive Order 77, focused on eliminating certain types of single-use plastics and styrofoam, was announced in spring of 2021 and aligns well with our sustainability plans and goals. Dave Zoll, the sourcing analyst with the Procurement Services Office, and Eden Harris, the Associate Director of Marketing, Administration and Licensing at Auxiliary Services will be speaking on the matter. Learn about the items being reduced, where to find alternatives, and plans for the future.

Campus Composting

W&M has the second-best composting program in the nation for a university of our size! Join us for a discussion with Stephen Moyer, Jasmine Howard, Claire Willie, and Dorian Miller from Dining Services about this long institutionalized effort in our dining halls, how and what to compost, and the more recent expansion of community composting access across the campus. Make sure your compostables are getting to a compost bin and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.
